Legacy Day – a festival that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of African Americans in Kent County – has occurred each August for the past eight years. It is offered free of charge to the public, thanks to the sponsorships of individuals and organizations.
The Tenth Anniversary Celebration of Legacy Day will take place in Chestertown on August 18 and 19, 2023. We will honor African American contributions to our community as we return downtown with a genealogy workshop, a parade, receptions, food and craft vendors, Gospel concert, and dancing in the street. Legacy Day is produced by Sumner Hall with the Historical Society of Kent County
